Apt to the scene, Kevin Durant unveils his special edition Nike KD VI “Bamboo” in Shanghai yesterday for the start of his 2013 Basketball Tour. The appropriated design stems from the belief of ‘balance, harmony, toughness and versatility,’ the attributes and traditionally held values of Bamboo which holds an even further back story to the shoe. As Durant embarks on his fifth season with OKC, Bamboo, after four consecutive years of stringent care, undergoes a significant change in its fifth. This philosophy is mirrored in the KD VI’s upper colorway of green and bronze that represents the different growth stages of Bamboo, and is themed further with an overlay of Bamboo patterning. The outsole holds a special KD logo stamp inspired from the Chinese character for Bamboo, while the overall lining pulls from the “Six Arts” of ancient Chinese culture. The KD VI “Bamboo” dropped yesterday throughout Greater China, while September 14 marks its North American release.
