Nissin Foods has created a zany advertisement for their latest Japanese instant noodle product titled “Instant Buzz.” The commercial attempts to mash up as many pop culture references in just under three minutes to market their Chikin Ramen and the result is weirdly artistic. Take a look at the video above and be sure to turn on the Closed Captions for a point-by-point guide of all the “buzz points”. Earlier this month, Nissin also released a video entitled “Samurai Noodles: The Originator” mixing animation and rap music as they explore the invention of instant ramen noodles.

The juice fad phenomenon has grown tremendously where a regular 12-ounce bottle in the market can be sold for $10 USD. Already proven a resilient industry around the world, juicing is being taken to the next level with Doug Evans’ new machine dubbed Juicero. Introduced earlier this year, the new system, which received $120 million USD in funding, may very well be the pinnacle of stress-free cold-press juicing.
Juicero’s no-mess aluminium design was made by Swiss designer, entrepreneur and sustainability advocate Yves Béhar and his award-winning industrial design firm fuseprojects, which reimagines cold-press juicing by using pre-packaged juice packs. Using Wi-Fi, Juicero is able to determine how fresh the fruits and veggies are inside by reading a QR code on each pack — think of it like Keurig coffee packs. At the push of a button, it crushes each pack with four tons of pressure to produce 8 ounces of juice instantly.
If you’re in California, Juicero is now available for purchase online for $700 USD and will be rolling out globally soon.

The trend of experimental cocktails doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, as evidenced by Cocktail Chemistry’s latest creation, dubbed the “Smoke Bomb.” As the name suggests, an ice ball gets filled with smoke before being cracked open over a drink to release the fumes. In order to create the “bomb,” the process requires setting wood chips over an open burner, then capturing the smoke through a funnel into a hollowed out sphere. Watch the video above and see if you can replicate the intricate “Black Manhattan” cocktail. For the full instructions, head over to Cocktail Chemistry’s website.

Ramen is not going anywhere anytime soon, and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto is only adding fuel to the fad. Momosan Ramen & Sake marks the celebrity chef’s foray into the hearty noodle soup, and will feature all types of pork and tonkotsu ramen. “We have all the pork: pork ear, pork shoulder, pork feet, pork belly, pork bones,” Morimoto ticked off. “People keep saying ramen is not healthy, and oh because it’s salty, and fatty, and has a lot of calories in it,” he continued. “My 30 years of experience in this country, people like the spicier, the richer [dishes].” With a space designed by Vertical Space, the restaurant is modern but casual, with a Japanese charm. A row of sake bottles line the wall with over 16 varieties available to patrons, six of those coming from Morimoto’s own sake line. Opening this Friday, April 8, you can enjoy the fan favorite in a convenient location just a stone’s throw away from Grand Central Station.

Celebrating the evolving food scene of Los Angeles, writer Erin Mosbaugh takes us on a quest to create weed-smoked salmon complimented by cannabutter cream cheese. Tapping the crew behind L.A.-based food truck Yeastie Boys Bagels, the classic breakfast dish consisting of a bagel, lox and schmear got a THC-fueled rework. Starting off with ingredients like ghost-pepper THC oil, chef Ben Posner rubbed the salmon and smoked it with wood chips and weed nugs. Next, the cannabutter was sauteed with veggies and cream cheese to create the schmear. Head over to First We Feast to see the full step-by-step guide.

Everybody knows that In-N-Out isn’t afraid of change, with a secret menu consisting of over 80 special customizations. But the franchise is set to make a big change to its burgers, one that surprisingly moves towards a healthier meal. VP of quality for In-N-Out; Keith Brazeau, noted that the localized franchise is set to switch to beef that hasn’t been treated with antibiotics. The announcement has come just after investigations have been launched into the issues with meat and other foods that have been treated with human grade medications. The medicine is usually introduced to the meat so it can kill bacteria on its surface, however more and more strains of bacteria may develop an immunity to the antibiotics, effectively creating a stronger and antibiotic-resistant strain of bacteria. In-N-Out will join other chains like McDonald’s and Shake Shack who have both made the move to anti-botic free meat.
