Александр Васильев покажет в Риге моду 40-50-х годов прошлого века

on 18 July at the Museum of decorative arts and design opens its fifth Riga exhibition of the famous historian of fashion, theater artist and the presenter of the broadcast “Fashionable sentence” Alexander Vasiliev “From war to peace. Fashion 1940-1950’s”.

The exhibition, which will be supported by AIZKRAUKLES Bank, will provide visitors a part of the collection of Alexander Vasiliev, dedicated to the fashion of the Second world war and the subsequent decades.

First of all, it will be the creation fashion houses, emerging from war — Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Balenciaga and Schiaparelli, also, viewers will see the works of unknown but talented dressmakers 40s, which are stored in the wardrobes of the greatest Actresses of military and post-war period.

Another part of the exposition will be devoted to the first models which opened in 1947, the fashion House Christian Dior, who offered to women after the severe war time the new charming silhouette of the New Look.
