Recently, the Australian wine-gastronomic dinner in the restaurant Da Gino FG Royal Hotel was initiated by the Latvian branch of the International society of lovers of wine and Haute cuisine (International Wine & Food Society).

The honorary guests at the dinner steel Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia in the Baltic States and Scandinavia Gerald Thompson with his wife Sophie, and also two unique connoisseur — Chairman of Moscow Department of International Wine & Food Society, Chevalier of the French Rotisseurs,an honorary member of the “Union of sommeliers and experts of Russia”(and it’s only a small part of titles) Leonid Гелибтерман and expert on Australian winemaking, holder of the diploma WSET third level Victoria mercy Shaikhutdinova.

Charming Victoria mercy Shaikhutdinova was born in Ukraine, but has been living in Australia and about the wines of this country is ready to talk endlessly.

During the dinner there were Australian wines: sparkling LINDEMANS CAWARRA EXTRA DRY BRUT, thanks to the delightful citrus acidity excellent as aperitif, white semidry ROSEMOUNT RIESLING, GEWURZTRAMINER (2011), fruity taste which is very interesting in combination with Asian food, white dry DE BORTOLI SELECTION CHARDONNAY (2009), fresh scent which along with tropical фркутами suddenly felt grilled corn on the cob (taste of the wine most fully revealed in combination with seafood), red dry ROSEMOUNT SIGNATURE COLLECTION CABERNET MERLOT (2010) with notes chokeberry and cherry (ideally with blue cheeses and naturally, steaks), DE BORTOLI SELECTION SHIRAZ (2008), plum and blueberry tone which suddenly complements the fragrance of violets, as well as exclusive club red wine from южноавстралийской valley, McLaren, not sold in Latvia and brought to Riga Victoria Шайхутдиновой.

Evening, according to the Australian tradition began with the sounds of a national instrument, aboriginal — didgeridoo.

Wine accompanied salad with roast beef and grilled Australian beef in the execution of the chef of the hotel Eiropa Sergey Ярамишяна, and several species of Australian eucalyptus honey, including chilli, ginger (this is not marketed in Latvia delicacy brought back from Moscow Leonid Гелибтерман).

Gerald Thompson now lives in Stockholm, but the southern temperament it is felt immediately.
